''WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS''

Organisation has never been a strength of mine and the fundraising for our 'pay for a day' target has so far, proven to be one of the biggest challenges in this entire journey, which is something i really did not expect.

Between the stress of organising our ideas on how we can get others to engage with what we truly believe is an incredible care facility, has been such a tough task. People dont exactly trust easily and want to know exactly where their money is going, thank god i had Emma on hand, one of Ty hafans in house fundraisers, who has guided my ideas and organised and provided a whole list of resources i have been able to use to get everyone involved!

Very Often in fundraising, in order to reach targets, people seem to remove the joy that giving offers. My visit to the Hospice reminded me that we are so distracted by the unimportant 'problems' in our lives that we forget the overwhelming love and compassion that we can offer and then weaken our appeals and dont really care about the cause because we want to come out on top and it becomes a child like competition.

That is why i wanted do to something that would bring people together and really show off the raw and honest reason why this Charity deserves so much more than just my dad and i climbing a mountain to pay for just a days worth of care and resource funding.

Walking the Grounds of Ty Hafan gave me a lush feeling of nostalgia and comfort. As soon as you walk through the doors there is no harsh hospital ward smells and cold walls and empty daunting hallways; instead there are colours and family pictures and toys and smiling faces. I felt like i was in my second year of primary school again, the familiarity of each, (hotel standard) bedroom and large chill out areas, where kids of all ages can hang out and play normally with their friends, and siblings. It is incredibly heart warming the amount of detail that the staff and community volunteers put in ensuring that not only the children are taken care of but also their families, with sea view only, facing bedrooms mum and dad can go and have a well deserved break whilst siblings and friends can play freely from the comfort of their own bedrooms, the large specially modified playground, or the den for the teenagers.
